Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley said Friday that the United States' decision to provide Ukraine with 31 Abrams M1A2 tanks would make a difference in the war. It is not an absolute choice.
Milley's comments came as the United States announced that Abrams tanks, which will be used to train Ukrainian troops, would be delivered to Germany in the coming weeks.
Milley, a senior U.S. general, said after meeting with Ukrainian allies at the Ramstein air base in Germany that he thought the M1 tank, when it was delivered, would make a difference. Different, but also warned that is not a definite solution. At the same press conference after the closing meeting of the Ukrainian General Communications Group at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin commented on the situation in Sudan. Austin said the US military was preparing options. As much as possible before the evacuation from the US Embassy, but no decision has been made yet.
The United States has deployed a number of forces to the base to ensure that they are given as many options as possible if they are called upon to do something, Reuters reported on Thursday. The United States is sending a large number of additional troops to its base in Djibouti if there is an eventual evacuation from Sudan.
